The PCN and the surgery team at Ruardean Surgery, a satellite site for Forest Healthcare, had a garden space that was not utilised. As part of the quality improvement aims for supporting patients to improve health and wellbeing, particularly focussed on local priorities of ageing well and frailty, the project aimed to develop a garden space where patients can be supported to access a variety of services designed to improve wellbeing and social interaction as well as mental health and mobility support.
The local GPs identified the following as a particular need/ concern within their population:
- Mental health and wellbeing options beyond statutory services
- Social isolation
- Inactivity
