Gorseinon Hospital is based within the boundary of Swansea Bay University Health Board. The hospital provides assessment and rehabilitation services for the older person.

The hospital was successful in bidding for National Lottery Funding to enable a medium size courtyard to be totally redeveloped in collaboration with Keep Wales Tidy. The courtyard has become a haven for patients, staff and visitors enabling them to get away from the ward environment and into the outdoor environment – benefiting their mental and physical health.

The National Botanic Garden of Wales also assisted with the project by providing volunteers to help with planting, erecting bird boxes and maintenance of the grounds. National Botanic Gardens also supplied a number of native welsh fruit trees that form a small orchard in the grounds of the hospital.
